Why: With the lack of affordable and well made housing in the area, Unboxed Homes wanted to provide a way for people to have the home of their dreams, while keeping costs down.
What’s Makes Blenheim Grove Special
So how are costs kept low? By buying a shell at a custom build development, buyers save on stamp duty, which is calculated as a percentage of the price. Shell price is much lower than a finished home, so the savings can be significant.
Buyers can also reclaim VAT on all fittings and and building work on the home, which is a savings of 20% on the entire fit out budget.
You also have full control of how your home looks on the inside. If you don’t want to spend money on marble floors in your bathroom, you can choose the specs that are right for you, at the budget that fits your wallet.
The development was designed by local architects Poulsom Middlehurst, who would walk by the site regularly and were inspired to build something beautiful on the bit of brown land they saw every day, making this a truly local project, designed to fit into the existing community of Peckham Rye.
The houses also feature a split-level design on the interior, which eliminates the need for landings and hallways, allowing each room to be more spacious and bright, with light coming from both aspects of the house. The dual height ceilings add to the feeling of spaciousness, and there is a feeling of connection between each of the floors.
Each house also features its own roof terrace for private outdoor space, as well as its own bike storage.
